BOARD &
TRAINS

Ruff Patriots Board & Train programs give your dog an immersive training schedule with structure, consistency, and daily repetitions. Your dog stays with us and trains throughout the program, then we teach you how to maintain the results through transfer sessions and a clear take‑home plan.
Board & Train is a powerful jump‑start—but it isn’t magic.
Long‑term success depends on follow‑through at home, consistency, and realistic expectations.

Basic
Obedience
Our 14‑Day Basic Obedience Board & Train is designed to build strong on‑leash control, household manners, and a calm routine.
Best for: puppies (>6 months), adolescent dogs, new rescues, and dogs who need consistent structure and manners.
Basic Command Foundation, Thresholds, Impulse Control and More

Advanced Obedience
Our Off‑Leash Obedience Board & Train is an advanced program built for owners who want a higher level of reliability around distractions.
This track is a minimum of 21 days to allow the dog to build foundation, consistency, and proofing without rushing.
A properly fitted e‑collar is required for this track and is introduced professionally and responsibly as a communication tool (not a shortcut).

Behavior Modification
Our Behavior Modification Board & Train is for dogs who need more than obedience—dogs struggling with reactivity, fear, anxiety, over‑arousal, or other behavior patterns that impact safety and daily life.
This track is a minimum of 21 days, and total program length is determined by your dog’s needs and safety considerations based on an evaluation. Some dogs require additional time to create stable, lasting change.

Specialized
Skills
At Ruff Patriots, all service/therapy track dogs must first complete our 14‑Day Basic Obedience (On‑Leash) Board & Train as an evaluation phase. This allows us to assess temperament, resilience, trainability, recovery from stress, and the dog’s ability to perform consistently in structured training.
Not every dog is a good candidate—and “not a candidate” does not mean “bad dog.” It simply means the dog is more likely to succeed as a well-trained companion rather than in a working/public role.
